Kilimanjaro challenge to raise vital funds for two Welsh charities

29th September 2026

Sarah and Karen, two midwifes from North Wales are taking on the challenge of a lifetime as they prepare to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Stepping Stones North Wales and Welsh Women’s Aid.

Standing at 5,895 metres, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, and Sarah and Karen will be taking on the demanding climb in February 2027 to raise vital funds for two charities.

The pair have chosen to support Stepping Stones North Wales, which provides free, specialist and trauma-informed support to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse across North Wales, alongside Welsh Women’s Aid, which works across Wales to support those affected by violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence. Sarah and Karen hope their challenge will not only raise much-needed funds, but also help raise awareness of the important work carried out by both charities.

Anyone wishing to support Sarah and Karen can make a donation via this link - https://givestar.io/gs/two-midwives-one-mountain
